1. Shivapuri Conservation Area

Shivapuri conservation area is a government protected area located in the northern part of Kathmandu valley having an area of 159 sq.km  including  districts of Kathmandu, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk. It is the second highest hill around kathmandu with a maximum altitude of 2563 m. Hike can be started from Budanilkantha. It's main attractions are jungle, waterfall, beautiful scenery with many species of vegetation.
The entry fee to enter Shivapuri conservation area is Rs 50 for Nepali citizens, Rs 300 for SAARC citizens, Rs 500 for other foreigners except SAARC citizens per day per person. And the entry fee for vehicles is Rs 50 for a motorbike, Rs 300 for car/jeep/van/taxi and for mountain bike it is Rs 100 for Nepali and Rs 1000 for foreigners. 13% VAT is added to this rate.










2.Phulchowki 

Phulchowki is the highest hill around Kathmandu valley in the southern part with a maxium altitude of 279 m It's main attraction is botanical garden, beautiful view of mountains. In winter hiking is much more exciting with the begin of snowfall.


3. Champadevi

Champadevi is situated in the southwestern part of Kathmandu valley at an altitude of 2249 m. Walk can be started either from Tau Daha or Pharping(On the way to Dakshinkali Temple). From Champadevi the beautiful view of Langtang, Gauri Shankar and Dorge Lakpa can be viewed. Kathmandu city looks awesome from there.


4. Kakani

Kakani lies around 26 kilometers away to the northeast of Kathmandu Valley. It's maximum altitude is 1990 m and the main attractions are beautiful scenery of mountains and beautiful hills covered with Rhododendron flowers.


5. Nagarkot

Nagarkot lies at around 32 kilometers east from Kathmandu Valley. Nagarkot is mainly famous for beautiful view of sunrise and sunset. From Nagarkot several mountain ranges including Annapurna, GAnesh Himal, Langang and Everest ranges can be viewed.
